Gerald Gleeson grew up in Rhode Island and attended art school there in the late 1930s. After serving in World War II, he studied art with Jerry Farnsworth in Massachusetts and spent a year in Mexico before settling in Berkley, California.
Gleeson's watercolors from the 1940s and 1950s depict city street scenes, whorfs and bridges in the Oakland area. In addition to painting and exhibiting on a regular basis, Gleeson taught painting and drawing in the Bay Area.
