Dorthea Cooke (1908 - 2001)
Born: Hollywood, CA Studied Chouinard Art Institute (Los Angeles).
Dorthea Cooke grew up in Southern California where she studied art with F. Tolles Chamberlin and Pruett Carter. She worked as an illustrator and printmaker. In 1936 she and her husband, Hardie Gramatky moved to New York. There she continued to do illustrations and fine art watercolors.
